Archive for August 2003

Oh dear… its been AGES!!!! *thinks very hard about what we have been doing!*

Well.. we went on a home ed trip to Denver Mill – must find link… This was a windmill out in East Anglia that i took the 3 girls up to – it was really good (lots of streps though!) and Pud asked lots of questions all on her own. We looked at different types of grain and models of different types of windmill and talked about how flat the area we lived in is.

Next – visited the Porticos down south – now this was really nice and very interesting – funny to find children with such completely different acedemic interests – they are all naturally mathematical whereas Pud clearly leans towards the history/booky/creative type stuff. They had a great time and we all went to the Diana Memorial Gardens in London and had a lovely MuddlePuddle Birthday party. Its was SO hot but really good fun.

Just done a week in Cornwall with Granny, Grampty and Uncle Rich (who also stayed for a week in August) and had a very good and very relaxing time, although i had tonsil trouble for a lot of it. It was very different to holidays before wher we have “done” something every day – i was ill and the holiday house was lovely and we really just chilled out – i feel much better for it.

Well – the big news is, Fran is now OFFICIALLY home ed – Year one starts this week and she won’t be there :~) I feel like i have been waiting for this moment for absolutely forever – its been weird to have been so involved in something like MuddlePuddle and yet not be OFFICIAL – now we are. So – how long will it take for the LEA to catch up do you think?

Pud has been asking to do more “stuff” – she is very into maths and reading again. Moo starts nursery over the next week or two so we will afternoons when Bubba will be asleep so it will be good to get opportunities for doing projects etc.

Hnery still reigns supreme anyway….

Kind of a horrible end to the caterpillar saga…. one leaf had yellow eggs on it and they got eaten… they must have been aphid eggs of some sort and when they hatched they mauled the caterpillars – they seemed to burrow from the inside out – everytime we looked another catty had piles of yellow larvae around it and was being suckjed dry. UGH :(

We put the whole thing outside and hope some of them escaped the carnage :( (
