This week I’ve had very bad service from a wool shop, who in the interests of kindness I won’t link to since they are a small business but *man* I am cross. And I *really* hate the ‘the email must have got lost’ excuse, just for the record. I’m a small online business too and I know all the excuses and they don’t wash.
Then I had REALLY REALLY REALLY good service from two others.
Edit: Sadly in 2013 I used Laughing Hens again and was very disappointed. They ignored a request for a certain batch number, ignored all emails, sent the wrong product, were not available by phone, took 1 whole month to refund me, broke distance selling laws by not refunding postage costs and had to be taken to Paypal complaints for me to get it back. TWO MONTHS to fix their error.
I’ve left the rest of the post but I NO LONGER RECOMMEND LAUGHING HENS.
From 2010.
The first was Laughing Hens who swooped in to deliver colours at top speed (and it would have been even better if the first shop hadn’t compounded their errors by wrongly telling me which colours they weren’t supplying and I needed to order last minute from elsewhere, meaning I’ve ended up with 6 of one and none of the other) – so Laughing hens get the award for speed, accuracy, actually having the stock they charged for and being perfect.
The other was an American store called Hampton Knitting Yarn who have gone to great lengths to try and help me work out which of two shades of blue of their last discontinued stocks I needed and have been so lovely that they are even holding what’s left until my sample batch arrives. Service with a smile, compassion and warmth. (And really cheap p&p too, although I did *cough* order rather a lot). You really can’t say fairer than that.
5 star award for both. And I’m picky these days, I tell you.

have bookmarked laughing hens – no idea why I have’nt thought of ordering wool online! Will browse later.
