I think you could say she is into the Tudors….

Bless…. this was such an irresistable picture - nice to know the interest is really real, if you know what i mean.

Anyway - been having a nice few days, making the most of the afternoons when Moo is at nursery. On Monday we did the dress, and she played in it all afternoon - she found it really amazing how heavy and cumbersome it was - so we had quite a long talk about that and lifestyles and how people were allowed to behave in Tudor times. We also made these Hama patterns, which were a bit of a play on blackwork tapestry and Tudor beamed houses.

Her’s is the heart - i really liked the fact she did that and knew it was finished rather than feeling the board had to be filled - felt like she was really exploring an artistic moment.

On Tuesday we went into town and played footsie with the truancy patrols. We had a whale of a time choosing a pattern and fabrics for a real Tudor/medieval dress which we are going to make together - its an easy pattern and i think she is ready for a bit of simple dressmaking. We also went into the cathedral and got postcards for the muddlepuddle postcard exchange and paid homage to Catherine as usual. We also got a good look at the painted ceiling and talked a bit about abbeys, monks, thomas beckett (or is that thomas a beckett?) and so on. The have a kids tomb tour there which we might do next time but Scruff was bullroaring a bit!

Today we played with our new plastic beads and made pipecleaner bangles, necklaces and rather bizarrely, Moo made an albino spider!

which she played with ALL MORNING!

Oh - and we made these REALLY beautiful foam roses and used some impulse buy opitec netting and some beads to make a vase…. well i like it anyway!

And finally, cos i am about to take it off the wall and can’t remember if i posted it anywhere; here is our Tudor Family Tree - it was good to draw out our own as well and see how much more prolific we are!

del.icio.us this!
